Newsletter - February 2021

Hi everyone,

We hope you are safe and well!

As you likely heard yesterday, it looks like we will be at least another month until we are allowed to open our doors. This is unfortunate but expected news; we will continue doing everything possible to ensure we give you some form of training as soon as the government permits, whether that be outdoor, online or reduced classes.

On a positive note the team have been extremely busy pulling the club together in the background. As you may have seen on social media we have a number of new bags, smith machine, framework and some odd bits and pieces we need to get going. The lockdown has made it difficult for us to get our hands on equipment but we continue to do our best to ensure we have everything we need once the doors can officially open.

A number of sponsors have made donations to the club to get us going;

• Whittons Flooring – Flooring, Vehicles for Moving Equipment & A Cash Donation

• Westway Radio – Radio adverts & Shout Outs!

• Tough Electrical – Electrical Works

• Williams Roofing – Cash Donation

• Pro-Clean – Punch Bag Equipment Donation & Window Cleaning

• Land Management Scotland – Cash Donation

• Ramsay Fabrication – Framework source, build and assembly

• PM Print and Signage – Internal and External Signage, Clothing and COVID Control Equipment

• Morrisons Arbroath – Tables and Chairs

A huge thank you to them all so far, the support is greatly appreciated! We are not eligible for any government support due to the timeframe we opened the club and have not charged any of our members. As a community club we don’t want to ask our members to pay when they can’t attend classes and we aim to continue this way for as long as possible.

You will see signage for them up around the club when we eventually get opened! If you or anyone you know would like to sponsor or make a donation then please get in touch with Marc or Richard via info@cathedralboxing.com, by phone or through Facebook.

Our own iOS and Android app release is imminent. All memberships will be managed through this system to reduce paperwork (for both COVID and the environment!) and money handling. We will still accept cash payments however we will still need you signed up via the members area in the website where possible to ensure we have all medical information and consent forms up to date and available to us. More information to follow once we have an open date!

The online platform is still available for £10 a month for anyone wanting to sign up and get moving. Get in touch or sign up for the “Online Only” membership via the website. This is a tailored program so once signed up one of the team will be in touch to discuss your goals and tailor a program to you.

We released the class list in December; once signed up you will be able to book classes via the app. If you would like to suggest any changes, additions or have ideas for classes we haven’t thought of then reach out and let us know, we’d love to hear about it!

The team have been busy working through several courses to ensure we can offer the best and safest possible training when we open. This includes several boxing coaching courses, child wellbeing and protection courses and COVID awareness, officer and control courses. We have plenty planned and booked, more on this in due course.

Finally; we know this is a difficult and distressing time for all. We are all stuck inside, the weather is terrible and it can feel like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Please remember that we are all in this together and that all here at CBC are here to help in any way we can. Whether you just need someone to chat to or there is something more pressing please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

Stay safe and we hope to see you all soon!
