Show Report - 12/06/2022 - Elgin

A long drive up to Elgin following a trip to Falkirk the night before. 3 more boxers on the Elgin home show for a Sunday of boxing!

First up was Mason who used great footwork and head movement over 3 rounds to neutralise his opponents attacks. By countering effectively, he was able to catch his opponent moving in showing great skill and timing against the home fighter. The home boxers hand was raised in a very skilful and closely contested bout.

Next up was Finlay who was in with an eager opponent who charged across the ring at the opening bell and threw a barrage of punches right from the get go. Diving in, he pushed Finlay around the ring and eventually off his feet in what resembled wrestling more than boxing. Finlay got up off the canvas however the bout was soon called off with Finlay’s opponents hand raised. The decision was widely criticised even by the home crowd with many feeling it should have been a disqualification.

Last up was Shaun who was up against a visibly bigger opponent. Despite the size difference Shaun stood his ground, keeping under his opponents jab and using head movement to avoid a lot of his opponents shots. Both landed well throughout the fight with some fantastic exchanges in what was a tactical bout rather than an all our brawl. Shaun lost by decision but fought brilliantly against a bigger and more experienced opponent.

Not the results we came for however their performances were fantastic and ones they should be proud of. It’s all about experience and they learn and improve at every show!
